Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how [ TwilightSirius ] ("we," "us," or "our"), operating as an individual developer in Taiwan, collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our mobile application, Pedometer (the "Application").
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your data.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Personal, Fitness & Sensor Data (Processed Locally Only)
To provide its core pedometer functionality, the Application requires the android.permission.ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION permission to access your device's motion and step sensors. Your personal profile information (such as height, weight, and gender) and all fitness and activity data, including step counts, walking distance, calorie consumption, speed, and time duration, are processed and stored solely locally on your device. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit this information to our servers or to any third-party service, and it is never synchronized or shared with any third-party applications.
Data Collected via Analytics & Service Logs (Firebase & Internal Events)
To ensure system stability, analyze feature usage, and improve device compatibility, the Application collects certain diagnostic, device, and usage information, which is uploaded to Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics:
Device & Technical Information: When you use the Application, Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics automatically collect certain technical information about your device, such as hardware model, operating system and version, screen size and density, language and country settings, app version, and crash or diagnostic data. This information helps us fix bugs and ensure compatibility across different devices.
App Usage & Performance Metrics: We track session events including app startup, closure, session duration, ad loading status (success or failure), and feature interactions. This helps us understand which features are most used and optimize app performance.
Step Count Range: We log a coarse step-count range (not your detailed step records) to help us adjust the display ranges used in the Application. No other fitness or activity data, such as distance, calories, speed, or duration, is logged, and no personal profile information is logged.
Approximate Location & Regional Compliance: To determine whether advertisements can be served in your region, the Application first reads the country code reported by your mobile carrier network (no location permission is required). If it is unavailable, the Application sends a request to third-party IP geolocation services (e.g., ipinfo.io, country.is, ipwho.is, ipapi.co), which receive your IP address and return a country code. We use only the country code to comply with regional advertising restrictions, and we do not collect or store precise GPS location. The result is stored on your device and re-checked only at limited intervals. To evaluate the accuracy of this detection, we may also log coarse country codes to Firebase Analytics.
Third-Party Services & SDKs
To deliver advertisements in supported regions and handle analytics, the Application integrates the following third-party services, which may automatically collect advertising IDs, installation UUIDs, and network request logs:
Google Analytics for Firebase & Firebase Crashlytics: Used to analyze feature usage, crash reports, app performance, and hardware compatibility. They may collect device identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID), installation UUIDs, and app usage statistics.
Firebase Remote Config: Used to adjust app settings and feature toggles remotely.
Google AdMob / Google Ads: Used to display advertisements within the Application in supported regions (such as banner ads during regular use and interstitial ads during data export/import actions). AdMob may use device identifiers to personalize ads and measure ad campaign performance.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): Used to obtain and record your advertising consent choices where required (e.g., in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom).
For more information on how Google uses data, please visit Google's Privacy & Terms.
Our support website is hosted on Blogger, a Google service. When you visit it, Google may use cookies and collect standard web log information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited), and may provide aggregated visitor statistics to us. We do not use the website to collect personal information from you directly. For more information, please see Google's Privacy Policy.
2. GDPR Compliance (For European Economic Area Users)
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have specific data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Legal Basis for Processing: Our legal basis for analytics and advertising is Consent, which you grant or decline through the app's consent dialogues. Our legal basis for service stability, crash diagnostics, and regional advertising compliance is Legitimate Interests (maintaining a stable and lawful service).
Your Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, or erase personal data collected about you, as well as the right to data portability, to restriction of processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. You may contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.
Data Transfers: Data processed by Google services may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside the EEA (e.g., in the United States). Google utilizes Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure adequate data protection.
3. CCPA & CPRA Compliance (For California Residents)
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), provides California residents with specific privacy rights.
Categories of Information Collected: In the preceding 12 months, the Application and its third-party SDKs may have collected "Identifiers" (such as advertising IDs and installation IDs), "Internet or other electronic network activity information" (such as app interaction data and diagnostic logs), "Device information" (such as device model), and "Approximate geolocation" (country-level only). We do not collect your personal profile information or your step and exercise data.
No Sale or Sharing of Personal Information: We do not "sell" your personal information. However, the use of third-party advertising identifiers for personalized ads may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law.
Your Rights:
Right to Know/Access: You can request to know what personal data has been collected.
Right to Delete: You can request the deletion of personal data collected.
Right to Opt-Out of Sharing/Targeted Advertising: You can restrict the use of your advertising identifier through your Android device settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization or Reset advertising ID).
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
4. CalOPPA Compliance (California Online Privacy Protection Act)
In accordance with CalOPPA, we agree to the following:
Users can visit our app store page and view this privacy policy anonymously.
Our Privacy Policy link includes the word "Privacy" and can easily be found on the Google Play Store listing and within the Application's settings menu.
Do Not Track (DNT) Signals: We do not track users over time and across third-party websites, and therefore the Application does not respond to DNT signals. However, some third-party tools used in the app may track your activities.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
The Application is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us or to third-party services within our app, please contact us immediately, and we will work to delete that information.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
